Cos Cob is a neighborhood located in the town of Greenwich, Connecticut, United States. It is situated on the Mianus River and is home to many historic sites, including the Bush-Holley House, which is now a museum of art and history. Cos Cob is known for its charming downtown area, which is home to many shops, restaurants, and cafes. The neighborhood is also home to several parks and outdoor recreation areas, including the Mianus River State Park and the Cos Cob Park. Cos Cob is easily accessible by car or train and is located about 35 miles northeast of New York City. Cos Cob is a close-knit community with an abundance of parks and scenic outdoor recreation space. Landmarks in the area include the 1730s Bush-Holley House, which hosted a famed colony of American Impressionist painters between the 1890s and 1920s. With idyllic natural scenery including hundreds of acres of parkland, it’s easy to see why this laidback Greenwich neighborhood would appeal to artistic sensibilities. East Putnam Avenue is Cos Cob’s main street, featuring privately-owned restaurants and independent specialty retailers. Louie’s is a popular upscale Italian restaurant serving delicious pasta, meat, and seafood dishes in a trendy space with a roaring fireplace. For more casual but no less authentic Italian eats, Villa Nuova makes delicious paninis, sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. The rustic tavern Little Pub offers a cheerful atmosphere for enjoying a craft beer and elevated pub grub. It’s a go-to spot during early dinner hours for families with young children.

Cos Cob’s affinity with the water is on full display at Coast Seafood. Here diners enjoy exquisitely crafted meals prepared with ultra-fresh seafood and seasonal organic ingredients. The family-run Mumbai Times serves traditional Indian cuisine for those who love spice. It’s small in size but also does a brisk take-out business.

Shops in Cos Cob feel like a quintessential part of the community. Ann’s Hobby Center has been a local delight for decades, with children and adults alike choosing from its selection of hundreds of specialist craft and hobby items. Cos Cob is home to many parks with a host of recreational amenities. On the Cos Cob Harbor waterfront, Cos Cob Park features athletic fields, picnic tables, a playground, a 9/11 memorial, and a theater overlooking Long Island Sound. Loughlin Avenue Park is an inland green space also featuring a playground and athletics field, as well as courts for basketball, tennis, and paddle tennis. Bible Street Park has athletic fields and a playground alongside bocce and basketball courts. Cos Cob’s largest park is the enchanting Montgomery Pinetum. Trails here run through a 102-acre expanse of dense forest with soaring pine trees and dramatic rocky outcroppings. Montgomery Pinetum’s captivating landscape also includes giant marble monoliths, scenic ponds, beautiful blooming wildflowers, and botanical gardens featuring collections of unique plants.
